Venice Airport is also known as Venice Marco Polo Airport, and handles international and domestic flights to and from many destinations. Its terminal building is well equipped with all the facilities that may be required by passengers, including a good selection of car hire companies. Maggiore is one of the rental companies at Venice Airport, and their rental counters can be found in the arrivals area, which is on the ground floor. Other car hire companies at the airport include Hertz, Avis, Sixt, National, Alamo, Easycar and Budget.
Maggiore, at Venice Airport, is open from Monday to Sunday between the hours of 08:00 and 23:30. Vehicles can be rented directly from their counters at the airport, or alternatively, customers can make an advanced reservation, from Maggiore’s website at www.maggiore.com. Their website is very informative, and displays pictures of all the example vehicles in each car category. When renting a vehicle from Maggiore, a car category is selected, rather than a car by its specific make and model.
There are eight different car categories available at Venice Airport, ranging from smaller vehicles in the Citycar category to larger vehicles in the Minivan category. Citycars are practical vehicles, just right for city driving. They are also very light on fuel. The Fiat 500 1.2 Lounge and Fiat 500 1.2 Sport are examples of vehicles with three doors in this category, while the Fiat Panda 1.2, Nissan Micra and Lancia Ypsilon 1.2 are examples of vehicles with three or five doors. They all feature ABS brakes, air conditioning, CD players and airbag protection. Vehicles in the Compact category seat around five people, and include the Fiat Bravo 1.6 MJT, Alfa 147 1.9 JTD, Volkswagen Golf 1.6, Renault Mégane 1.5 DCI and Lancia Musa 1.3 MJT. This category also has estate vehicles available, such as the Volkswagen Golf Variant 1.9 TDI and Opel Astra SW 1.7 CDTI. These vehicles have a greater capacity for luggage.
Some fairly large vehicles can be hired from the Intermediate category, such as the Nuovo Fiat Doblò 2.0 MJT, which can seat seven people. The Intermediate vehicles all have good interior spaces and wide luggage racks, making them the ideal cars for longer distance driving. Other vehicles found in this category are the Lancia Delta 1.6 MJT and Alfa 159 1.9 JTD, while estate vehicles include the Volkswagen Touran 1.9 TDI, Volvo V50 2.0 D and Fiat Croma 1.9 MJT.
Business class passengers arriving at Venice Airport may be interested in Maggiore’s Premium category. These are vehicles with a bit more style and elegance than the ordinary vehicle for hire, and are perfect for a prestigious corporate function, or even a formal private function. They include the Audi A6 2.7 TDI Multitronic Advanced and Volvo S80 2.4 Automatic. Minivans have spacious and comfortable interiors, and are super vehicles for a large family or a group of friends who want to travel together. The Fiat Ulysse 2.0 JTD seats up to seven people, and the Fiat Ducato 30 Panorama 2.3 Multijet seats up to nine people.
Maggiore offers a variety of extra items to rent along with their vehicles, such as baby safety seats, booster seats for older children and the MIO satellite navigation system. Safety seats are an essential part of any journey for parents of young children, as Italy’s road rules regarding seat belts is very strict. A GPS unit is wonderful to have, especially if you are traveling in unfamiliar territory. The MIO navigation system makes reaching your destination an easy task, with continuous road maps, and regular updates of real-time traffic information. It also includes an extensive list of points of interest, such as hotels, restaurants, gas stations, and even pharmacies.
All vehicles hired from Maggiore include emergency roadside assistance. If you are involved in an accident, you are advised to remain at the accident location until the emergency vehicles arrive. A form called the C.A.I must be filled in and sent to any Maggiore agency within 24 hours of the accident, along with the other relevant documents. Renters will find these forms inside the rented vehicle. The Road Assistance Service will authorize an alternative means of transport in order to reach the nearest Maggiore agency, and once you have handed in the receipt issued by the Road Assistance staff, you will be given a replacement vehicle with which to continue your journey.
Maggiore, at Venice Airport, can assist you with any further enquiries about their rental cars, or rental agreement policies.
