Buses to and from Bari Airport (BRI)

Bari International Airport has a selection of bus services available for passengers wanting to travel to Bari and other surrounding areas. There is also a bus service that connects Bari Airport to the other Puglia Airports of Brindisi, Foggia and Taranto. The buses are easy to find at the airport, as they depart from directly outside the terminal building, and the bus stop area is well signposted.

The most economical bus service from Bari Airport is the AMTAB Bus. This is the urban bus service, and the buses are number 16. They travel to the Piazza Aldo Moro, which is right next to Bari’s main railway station, Bari Centrale. This is an ideal destination if you plan to continue your journey by train, as there are actually three different railway stations alongside each other in the square.

The AMTAB Buses make a few stops on their route. Stops include Capitaneo, Ranieri and Diaz. Other stops also include Viale Europa, Via B. Buozzi, Via Crispi, Via Piccinni, Via Q. Sella and Corso Italia. Exact timetables can be found at the bus stop of the airport, or if you are traveling to the airport, in the office of Piazza Moro or in a local magazine called Tutto Citta. In general though, buses leave the airport every 40 – 60 minutes, and they are available between the hours of 05:00 and 21:30. Since Bari is only approximately 8 km from the airport, the traveling time of the buses is relatively short, around 35 to 45 minutes. The bus tickets cost €0.80. These are the cheaper tickets that must be used within 75 minutes of purchase.

The second bus service available from Bari is the Tempesta Bus Company. These are shuttle buses which also travel to the Central Railway Station in Bari, but they are a bit faster than the AMTAB Buses, because their route is more direct. However, they are a bit more expensive as well. Their ticket price for a one-way trip is €4.15. The buses take about 25 to 30 minutes to reach Bari’s Railway Station. Another advantage of traveling with the Tempesta Bus Company, is that you can pay the driver for your bus ticket, therefore, you need not worry to purchase a ticket in advance. Tempesta Buses are operational from the airport up until 23:20.

To reach the other Puglia Airports of Foggia, Brindisi and Taranto, passengers should take the Pugliairbus. These buses run during the summer months between June 16th and September 13th, and they are actually a free service. They also connect Bari Airport to other main cities of Puglia, including the UNESCO site of Matera. The Pugliairbuses do not run as frequently from the airport as the other buses, and they do not operate on Sundays. Three daily services are available to Taranto, Altamura - Matera, Foggia FS and Brindisi Airport. The services of the Pugliairbuses are only available to passengers with an airline ticket or those with a firm reservation. However, it is best to make a reservation for these buses online, in advance of your arrival at Bari Airport. Reservations can be made at http://pugliairbus.aeroportidipuglia.it. If you do not have reservation, seats will be provided on availability, on a first-come first-serve basis. The services of the Pugliairbuses are provided by the Aeroporti di Puglia and the Regione Puglia.

Besides traveling by bus or taxi, people in Bari can make use of the ferries, since that Bari has one of the most important harbors in the area. The ferry operators from Bari Port include Azzurraline, Blue Star Ferries and Superfast Ferries, and there are routes to Durres, Dubrovnik, Igoumenitsa, Kotor and Patras.

Passengers arriving at the Airport are sure to find the bus services adequate, comfortable, convenient and easy to use, but if there are any further enquiries, passengers can go to the Information Desk of the airport, and this is located in the Departures Hall. Bari Airport also has self-service, touch-screen computers, which provide information on a variety of topics.
