Thrifty Forli Airport
Forli Airport is located approximately four kilometres from the city centre of Forli, and is an airport serving towns in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. In Italian, the airport is known as the Aeroporto di Forli – ‘L. Ridolfi’, as another name commonly used for the airport is Luigi Ridolfi, after an Italian aviator. It is served by the airline companies of Wizz Air and Belle Air, and passengers arrive from a few destinations. Forli Airport is only a small establishment, but it has adequate facilities for passengers that include car hire companies such as Thrifty Forli Airport. Thrifty offers vehicles of excellent condition and affordable car rental rates.
The arrivals hall of Forli Airport is on the ground floor of the terminal building, and here the car rental companies have their offices. Thrifty is open at this location from 08:00 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 19:00, Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays from 08:00 to 13:00. These are Thrifty’s standard hours of operation, and their times may vary on public holidays. Although they are not open twenty-four hours a day, they are available to greet the majority of passengers arriving at the airport. By rented car can be a popular way to travel, therefore it is recommended to hire your vehicle from Thrifty in advance, in order to ensure that the car you need is ready and waiting for your arrival. Earlier bookings often secure lower rental rates as well.
Along with their vehicles, the Forli Airport car hire companies offer a wide range of equipment for hire. These items may include satellite navigation systems, luggage racks and child seats for babies or toddlers, and should also be reserved in advance. In Italy, children four years of age or younger should have their own seat in the vehicle, and all passengers should be wearing seatbelts. Child seats can be requested in various sizes from the car rental companies. Only children from the age of twelve should be allowed to sit in the front of the vehicle. Although a GPS is not required by law, it will certainly provide a valuable contribution to your journey, especially if you are unfamiliar with the roads surrounding Forli. The system is also pre-programmed with thousands of points of interest which will enable you to more easily find the nearest petrol station, restaurant, shopping centre, pharmacy, place of business, tourist attraction etc. Satellite navigation systems and child seats will add a few Euro to your rental.
Free of charge however, are Thrifty hand controls for disabled drivers, and this is a device made for use on certain types of automatic vehicles. They operate the brake and accelerator pedals, and are therefore ideal for use by persons with a lower limb disability. From Forli Airport, hand controls will require an advanced reservation. Try to book at least forty-eight hours prior to your arrival to collect the vehicle.
In Italy, and from the Forli Airport car rental companies, persons as young as 21 can hire a car, and all that is required is a valid drivers license and a major credit card for payment of the rental. The license, however, should have been held by the driver in his/her country of residence for at least a year prior to the rental date, and in some cases, an International Driving Permit is required. This document should accompany the local license, and is used for translation purposes. Thrifty will not accept debit cards or cash, only a major credit card such as American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard, Mastercard or Visa.
Vehicles from Thrifty, Forli Airport, are available in various categories, and may be similar to the Smart For Two in the Mini category, the Peugeot 107 in the Economy category and the Fiat Grande Punto in the Compact category. These smaller cars are ideal for many customers, as they are light on fuel, eco-friendly and easy to drive, provided that you are familiar with the workings of a manual transmission. They are great for city driving, and will take longer distances in their stride as well. However, a possible drawback is room for luggage, and families tend to hire something slightly larger. The Lancia Delta is an example of a Standard vehicle from Thrifty and the Mercedes-Benz C Class and Alfa Romeo are Fullsize vehicles. Vans can also be hired from Thrifty, such as the Mercedes-Benz Vito for seven passengers. Additional cars may be similar to the Nissan Dualis or the Opel Astra Wagon.
If not returning to Forli Airport, one way hires can be arranged from Thrifty. This is a rental where the vehicle is returned to a different location, either in the country of Italy or in another nearby country. When cars hired are taken out of the country they may be referred to as cross-border rentals. The requirements of these types of rentals vary from one car hire company to another, and it is best to confirm all the details of Thrifty one way hires before finalising your travel itinerary. Additional services from Thrifty include their Blue Chip membership, allowing customers to take advantage of many benefits each time a rented car is required, and the Multi-Month Rental Program, whereby vehicles can be hired for longer time periods of up to eleven months.
Thrifty Forli Airport will be happy to provide all additional information and assistance required, and will strive to provide you with the best rented car for your holiday or business trip in Italy.
