Getting to and from Ancona Airport (AOI)

Ancona Airport is nearby many popular Italian cities, and Ancona itself is a pleasant city at the sea. The popular area of Pescara is located approximately 85 miles, or 136 km from Ancona, and the drive from here takes around two hours when travelling at an average speed. The major roads leading to Ancona from Pescara include the Viale 22 Maggio 1944/SP2 and the A14 towards Bologna, Bari, Roma and Citta’ S. Angelo, which is a partial toll road. Cortona is about 79 miles, or 127 km from the airport, and connected by various major roads, while Ravenna is approximately 86 miles, or 138 km from Ancona. Motorways from this area include the SS16, the A14 and the E55. Ancona is reached from Bologna via the Tanganziale and the A14 towards the Ancona Toll road.

The facilities consists of a single terminal building, with an area for departures and a meet and greet arrivals area. There are no separate areas for domestic and international flights. In 2004, the terminal building was renovated and extended to support the expected increase in passenger numbers in the years to follow, and to turn the building into a more welcoming, yet functional building. There are a wide variety of facilities within the airport building, including the full service bank of Banca Marche, currency exchange services and ATMs. There is also a VIP lounge at the airport, for business class passengers. The reserved waiting lounge offers television and TV text, electricity sockets for PC usage, Internet connections and magazines. It also offers a comfortable and tranquil area in which to work or relax.

The airport has a Lost and Found office, a pharmacy and basic first aid services, as well as a few shopping outlets selling sunglasses, souvenirs, wine and typical Italian foods. A newsagent sells tobacco and newspapers. A couple of snack bars offer a delicious variety of regional cuisine, wine, sandwiches, ice-creams, coffee, beer, and many other choices to wet the appetite. Motorists will also find adequate parking areas available.

Passengers who do not wish to travel in their own vehicles to Ancona Airport can choose taxi, bus or train services. There is a railway station directly opposite the terminal, connected to the main Ancona Centrale station, and buses also operate frequently to the airport from Ancona. The Conero Bus Company runs the local bus services in Ancona. A frequent bus service from Ascoli Piceno, called Finalmente Tours, is also available. Taxis are a popular way to travel the short distance from Ancona city to the airport, and they provide a very quick and convenient service.
