Rome Ciampino Airport Departures (CIA)

Ciampino Airport has a main terminal building that is subdivided into Departures, Arrivals and General Aviation. There is also a dedicated cargo terminal. Since the opening of the larger Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino Airport mainly handles domestic and charter flights.

Some of the airlines that serve Ciampino Airport are Sterling, Ryanair, Easyjet, Air Berlin, Transavia Airlines, Carpatair, Wizz Air, V Bird, thomsonfly, Hapag-Lloyd Express and helvetic. With regards to airport taxes, departure tax is included in the price of the airline tickets.

Any baggage brought with for your departure, whether it be checked or hand baggage, should be clearly identifiable. Your personal information (name, surname, address and telephone number) should be on the outside and inside of your luggage. Labels that are relevant to other travels should be removed.

Each airline company has different weight allowances for checked baggage, and may limit the number of bags per passenger. It is advisable to confirm with your airline at the time of booking/before your departure flight, the exact requirements. This can help you to avoid additional fees for surplus of baggage. It can be easier to place as many of your items as possible in checked baggage, as there is usually limited space for hand luggage.

In hand luggage, passengers may not bring any items that could be considered as a weapon, such as scissors, knives, metal blades etc. Items like these will be confiscated by the security officers before boarding.

There are laws in regards to the amount of liquids a passenger may carry onto the airline, and these are according to the new EU security rules for airports. Each different liquid should be placed in containers that hold no more than 100ml each. These containers should then be placed in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag, with a total capacity of no more than 1 litre. The liquids should be separately presented to the security officers. It is best to pack as many liquids as possible in checked baggage for the ease of passing security control. If possible, medicines taken on board should have a prescription that shows it will be needed during the flight.

Passengers with babies are allowed an acceptance to the normal liquid rules. As much baby food and medicines that will be required during the flight may be brought on board the airline. Security officers may ask you to taste any items brought for your baby.

Disabled/reduced mobility passengers that require special assistance with departure at Ciampino Airport, should inform their airline of their needs at the time of reservation, or at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled flight. ADR Assistance will then provide free ground support for the passenger from their time of arrival until safely on board the airplane. Assistance can also be requested through their website www.adrassistance.it.

At Ciampino Airport, there are some useful facilities that include a First-aid station, a post office, currency exchange services (in the departures area and open every day from 08:00 to 21:00), banks and ATMs. There is an adequate selection of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants.

Passengers can receive general assistance from the Information Desks at Ciampino Airport. There is one near to the check-in areas in the Departure Hall, and it is open every day from 05:00 to 23:00. There is another one in the General Aviation Terminal, which is open from 07:00 to 23:30.
