Five and a half million passengers made use of Naples Airport in 2010, and this number will steadily increase in the following years to come. This airport is a major gateway to the Southern region of Italy, and serves many European cities. It is located in the suburbs of Capodichino, very nearby the center of Naples. Therefore, it is also well known as Naples Capodichino Airport. Various different airline companies offer domestic and long-haul flights from Naples Airport, and the terminal buildings have all the facilities required by departing passengers.

Eighteen airline companies operate from Naples Airport, some of which are major Italian and foreign, scheduled and low cost airline operators. The increase in the number of companies with flights from Naples Airport has significantly increased tourism and economic growth for the city and the entire region. Naples has a metropolitan population of almost three million, and is one of the largest metropolitan areas in Europe. The airport is managed by the company GE.S.A.C, which is a corporation partially owned by the British airport company BAA.

One of the main low cost airline companies at Naples Airport is EasyJet, with flights to destinations such as Liverpool, London-Gatwick, London-Stansted, Madrid, Milan-Malpensa, Venice-Marco Polo and Paris-Orly. Thomson Airways also operates a variety of seasonal flights to Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow-International, London-Gatwick, Manchester and Newcastle upon Tyne, while Alitalia flies to Athens, Bologna, Genoa, Milan-Linate, Rome-Fiumicino, Palermo, Trieste and Venice-Marco Polo, just to name a few of their main destinations. Other airline companies in operation from Naples Airport include British Airways, Air Berlin, Aer Lingus, Lufthansa, Meridiana Fly, Wizz Air, Air France and Air Italy. Some of the airline companies offer only seasonal flights to various destinations. Further information on flight schedules is available at the ticket offices in Naples Airport. The Alisud Office is the Naples International Airport ticket office, and operated by Alisud, from where bookings can be made to all destinations. They are open from 5:30 to 21:00, and found in the departure check-in area. They are also available online at www.alisud.com. The second ticket office is operated by Alitalia, and is also found in the check-in area of Departures. They are open the same hours as the Alisud office. One hour of free parking is available for passengers coming to Naples Airport to reserve airline tickets.

Naples Airport consists of two terminal buildings, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 is the main and larger of the two, handling the majority of departure flights, while Terminal 2 is mostly used for charter flights and tour operators. The terminals are within easy walking distance of one another, and the car parking areas do not require shuttle bus transportation. They are all located close by the terminals, with the long-stay parking area nearby the airport entrance, and the short-stay parking lots along the airport’s entrance road. There is also valet parking services available from the arrivals area of Terminal 1. Passengers who do not wish to drive their own vehicle to Naples Airport can arrive by bus or taxi. There is no train station at the airport. The Line 3S bus and the Alibus provide transport from the main train and bus stations in central Naples, and various other bus companies are available from further towns and cities. Taxis can be called to collect you from your location, or hired from any one of the train or bus stations. There are also taxi ranks at the main public squares within the city.

Facilities at Naples Airport include the Telelink Internet Center, providing a range of services such as photocopying and scanning, internet access and PCs with offices. Telephone, fax and videoconferencing services are also available, as well as meeting rooms for hire. Catering and equipment can be arranged for the meeting rooms. Travelex provides all services for the exchange of foreign currency, including the purchase and sale of foreign currency and travelers checks, international pre-paid telephone cards, travel insurance, money transfers, international payments, Visa and Mastercard cash advances and an ATM cashpoint. Cash machines are also available throughout the airport. Ordinary banking services are provided by the Banco di Napoli, and there is a post office located in the departures area of Terminal 1. Additional facilities include a Red Cross medical center, car wash, and a wide selection of shopping and refreshment outlets. All the retail outlets are located in the Galleria Napoli on the first floor of the main terminal.

Naples Airport welcomes disabled and reduced mobility passengers, and has strived to provide for their comfort in all areas of the airport. The entry to the airport is facilitated by sidewalks with access ramps, stoplights with audible signals for visually impaired individuals and reserved disabled parking spaces. On the ground floor of the main terminal, there is also a special waiting room for those in need of assistance. This room is the Sala Amica. Passengers can make arrangements for additional assistance from their airline company when they book their ticket, or at least 48 hours in advance of their departure flight. Qualified airport and airline personnel will then be ready to assist you on your arrival at the airport. Naples Airport also has call points at all the terminal entrances, the Sala Amica and at all the car parks, and there are special disabled toilet facilities within the terminals.

Passengers should ensure they arrive in good time for their departure flight from Naples Airport, leaving enough time to pass through the security control procedures. Further information is available from the information desks within the terminal buildings.
